Opposition’s vice-presidential nominee Margaret Alva today again urged the TMC to reconsider its decision to abstain from the August 6 election and said the party should allow its MPs to vote freely as per their conscience.

“By abstaining, the TMC is helping the ruling party not the Opposition. The TMC is an important member of the Opposition. Being neutral in the crucial election of the V-P doesn’t help the Opposition. It only helps the ruling party. There is yet time to reconsider this decision and allow TMC MPs to vote as per their conscience,” she tweeted.
