NEW DELHI, JANUARY 28
The world will soon get many more made-in-India vaccines, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said while underlining India’s global responsibility in fighting the pandemic at the World Economic Forum (WEF) today.
India will produce about 30 crore doses of Russia’s Sputnik V Covid vaccines this year with the Indian Ambassador to Russia Bala Venkatesh Varma taking the first dose on January 25 and reporting that he was well. Many more Indian diplomats in Moscow have taken the first jab and many more are going to do so, he said.
India had proved many pessimists wrong by successfully combating the epidemic with very little loss of lives. The situation will now change rapidly on the economic front also and businesses from all over the world must participate in its growth journey, PM Modi said during a special address at the WEF’s online Davos Agenda Summit that was addressed by select world leaders, including Xi Jinping, Valdimir Putin and Angela Merkel.
“We transformed the fight against Covid into a people’s movement and today India is among the most successful countries in saving lives,” he said.
