The further advance of southwest monsoon into Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi is likely to be slow as large-scale features are not favourable.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today said the further advance of the seasonal rains into the remaining parts of Rajasthan, west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab is likely to be slow as large-scale features are not favourable and the wind pattern by numerical models does not indicate any favourable condition for sustained rainfall in the region during the forecast period.

Meanwhile, under the influence of a Western Disturbance as a trough in mid-tropospheric levels and monsoonal easterlies, widespread rain is expected at various places in Uttarakhand over the next 24 hours. There will be a significant reduction in rainfall activity thereafter.
