Move backdoor entry of CAA: Left
New Delhi, May 29
The Centre’s move to invite citizenship applications from members of minority communities from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh reveals the government’s “fascist character” and is a way to give a “backdoor entry” to the CAA-2019, the Left parties alleged today.
“Subterfuge. Rules under CAA-2019 not framed, yet the Centre issues gazette notification to implement it. Petitions challenging validity of the CAA remain unheard. Hope the SC takes this up promptly & stops backdoor implementation,” CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury tweeted.
CPI general secretary D Raja said the move “exposes the fascist character” of the government. — PTI
