Mumbai, February 29

The Maharashtra Government today appointed Param Bir Singh, an IPS officer of the 1988 batch, as the new Police Commissioner of Mumbai.

Singh, who was the Director General of Maharashtra’s Anti-Corruption Bureau, replaced Sanjay Barve who had already completed two extensions as Mumbai Police Commissioner.

State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had ruled out granting a third extension to Barve. — TNS
