The National Commission for Women on Friday wrote to the Chief Secretaries of states and UTs to take steps to close the gender gap in vaccination. It said there was an urgent need to increase the proportion of women coming to vaccination booths so that the gap could be plugged.

It said Himachal Pradesh was among the states doing better in this regard. The NCW pointed out that in many households, women’s health was not considered a priority, which must be factored in. — TNS
