NCW seeks action against actor Siddharth over 'lewd' tweet against badminton player Saina Nehwal

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has asked Twitter to block the account of actor Siddharth over his “lewd” tweet against ace badminton player Saina Nehwal.
NCP chairperson Rekha Sharma also asked the DGP, Maharashtra, to immediately investigate the case and register an FIR against the actor under relevant provisions of the law. Nehwal had made a post on the breach of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security during his visit to Punjab on January 5.
“No nation can claim itself to be safe if the security of its own Prime Minister gets compromised. I condemn, in the strongest words possible, the cowardly act on PM by anarchists,” Nehwal had tweeted.
Siddharth’s controversial and “lewd” reply to the tweet, left netizens fuming.
Reacting to the row over his remark, Siddharth said, “Nothing disrespectful was intended, said or insinuated.” Siddharth has worked in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films. The NCW claimed the comment was misogynist, outrages the modesty of a woman and amounts to disrespect and insults the dignity of women. In a tweet, Sharma followed up the issue with with Twitter India asking why the actor’s account was still functional. — TNS
