Taipei: Taiwan plans to issue new passports emphasising its independent identity and downgrading connections with China. The foreign ministry on Wednesday released images of the new document that features “Taiwan” in large capital letters on its cover and minimises the English wording “Republic of China”, the island’s official name according to its Constitution.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
