Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed confidence that India’s rising capability in the drone sector would give the world a new leadership as he flagged off 100 ‘kisan drones’ in different parts of the country for spraying pesticides in farms.

Modi meeting Sikhs an eyewash: SGPC member

The PM launched the drones on Friday, with officials describing it as a “very novel and exciting initiative” for farmers. He virtually addressed a group of farmers gathered at Manesar, from where the “Drone Kisan Yatra” was flagged off.

“Kisan drones are the beginning of a new revolution. Many companies in the country are moving forward this direction. A new ecosystem of drone market is developing in India. More than 200 drone start-ups are currently working in the country and the number will soon go up to 1,000, creating huge job opportunities,” he said, maintaining the development of the a drone market in India would generate fresh employment and new opportunities for the youth,” said the PM.

“I have been told that Garuda Aerospace has set a target of manufacturing one lakh drones in the next two years. This will generate employment opportunities for the youth. Till recently, there was a notion that drones were meant for armed forces and fighting enemies. However, the Kisan Drone Suvidha has now added a new chapter in modern agriculture,” he said.
