Hyderabad, May 2

Tragedy continues to be unending for Andhra Pradesh where 16 patients under treatment for Covid-19 died in two hospitals. Eleven patients died at the Anantapur Sarvajana Government Hospital last evening due to shortage of oxygen, while five deaths were reported from a private hospital in Kurnool. Relatives of the deceased at the Ananta Sarvajana Government Hospital alleged interruption in the oxygen supply resulted in the deaths. They also alleged negligence on the part of the hospital staff, but officials denied it and attributed the deaths to complications of Covid-19.

Five other Covid patients died at a private hospital in Kurnool due to failure of oxygen supply. The hospital is not an authorised centre for the Covid treatment. District Collector Veerapandian said all the Covid patients were immediately shifted to Kurnool Government General Hospital and action was being initiated against the private hospital.
