Cracking down on illicit drugs, a Delhi pharmaceutical firm owner involved in illegal manufacture and supply of intoxicating tablets in the region has been arrested, the Fatehabad police said today. Besides, three others who were part of the supply chain have been nabbed.
The police seized nearly 47,000 tablets from the Bhattu region of Fatehabad last week. Besides, about 2.5 lakh tablets have been seized from various parts of the district in the past nine months.
DSP Subhash Chander said Gaurav Arora, a resident of Rajouri Garden in Delhi and owner of Unitech Healthcare Private Limited in Narela, was arrested on September 30. “He manufactures and supplies intoxicating drugs to the region. Gaurav has been sent to judicial custody.”
In another development, three other accused — medical store owners Ramprakash and Saurabh at Nangloi in Delhi and Sunil from Jind town — were arrested today in the case. They supplied drugs in the region. Saurabh has been sent to one-day police remand, while the other two are in judicial custody.
Fatehabad SP Rajesh Kumar said that police have succeeded in busting an inter-state medical drugs peddling chain. “Investigation has revealed that the drugs unit in Delhi had roped in wholesalers and medical stores for supplying illegal drugs in Haryana.”
The SP said the police decided to trace the source after the illegal tablets flooded medical stores in Fatehabad, Hisar and Sirsa districts.
