Nod to use drones for mapping villages

New Delhi: The Civil Aviation Ministry on Wednesday gave conditional permission to the Survey of India to use drones for mapping of inhabited areas of villages under the Union Government’s SVAMITVA scheme. The scheme was inaugurated last year to create accurate land records so that villagers could use them to take loans and other financial benefits. — PTI

‘IS man’ forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ in Tihar

New Delhi: An alleged ISIS member, arrested for planning suicide attacks and serial blasts across the country, approached a Delhi court on Wednesday claiming that he was beaten up by other inmates in Tihar jail and forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’. Accused Rashid Zafar was arrested in 2018. — PTI

New Delhi: Social media platform Twitter is learnt to have written to the government that it was in advanced stages of finalising chief compliance officer as per the new Information Technology rules and additional details would be submitted to the government within a week, according to an official source. — PTI
