Panjab University 2nd, HAU 3rd in Atal education rankings

Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, and Chaudhary Charan Singh Agricultural University, Haryana, are among the top seven government-aided universities in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA), 2020, launched by Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu today.

The annual rankings issued by the Education Ministry feature institutions in five categories — government-aided colleges, private colleges, institutes of national importance, government-aided deemed universities and private deemed universities.

While PU and the agricultural varsity are placed second and third among government-aided universities, the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Maharashtra, tops this category.

IIT-Madras leads the rankings in the top 10 list of institutes of national importance, followed by IIT-Bombay; IIT-Delhi; Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru; IIT-Kharagpur; IIT-Kanpur; and IIT-Mandi.

The institutes were ranked on budget, infrastructure, idea generation, entrepreneurship, commercialisation, learning methods and governance. Atal rankings are India’s domestic rankings meant to push excellence and global competitiveness among higher education institutes.
