PM greets Biden on US I-Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday greeted US President Joe Biden and the people of the USA on their 245th Independence Day.

Biden heralded the Independence Day celebrations Biden by observing that, “This Fourth of July, America is back”.

“We’re headed into a summer of joy—of freedom—thanks to the millions of Americans who stepped up to get vaccinated,’’ he said while thanking the frontline and essential workers made this day possible.

“As vibrant democracies, India and USA share values of freedom and liberty. Our strategic partnership has a truly global significance,” the PM said in his brief message.

India has emerged in the last two decades as a country vital to US foreign policy interests in the region as Washington takes on an aggressive China as well as seeks to stabilise Afghanistan.

On a bilateral level, there has been an increase in bilateral trade and investment, co-operation on global security matters, closer military cooperation, a hydrocarbons partnership and admission in export control regimes.
