A day after the BJP said the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF) received donations from the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese embassy to carry out studies against India’s interest, BJP president JP Nadda on Friday alleged that money from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) was also diverted to the “family-run” foundation during the UPA government.
Calling it a “brazen fraud” and “big betrayal” to people of India, Nadda said people donated their hard-earned money to the PMNRF to help fellow citizens.
PMNRF, meant to help people in distress, was donating money to Rajiv Gandhi Foundation in UPA years.
Who sat on the PMNRF board? Smt. Sonia Gandhi
Who chairs RGF? Smt. Sonia Gandhi.
Totally reprehensible, disregarding ethics, processes and not bothering about transparency. pic.twitter.com/tttDP4S6bY

“Diverting public money into its foundation for running a family is not only a serious crime but also a big betrayal of the people of the country,” he said.
“The PMNRF, meant to help people in distress, was donating money to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation in UPA years. Who sat on the PMNRF board? Srimati Sonia Gandhi. Who chairs the RGF? Srimati Sonia Gandhi,” Nadda said.
“Totally reprehensible, disregarding ethics, processes and not bothering about transparency,” Nadda said in a series of tweets.
“The people of India donated their hard-earned money to the PMNRF to help their fellow citizens in need. To divert this public money into a family-run foundation is not only a brazen fraud but also a big betrayal of the people of India,” Nadda added.
“One family’s hunger for wealth has cost the nation immensely. If only they had devoted their energies towards a more constructive agenda. The Congress’ Imperial Dynasty needs to apologise to the unchecked loot for self-gains!” the BJP president said.
BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya said the RGF also “managed perceptions for the Communist Party of China”.
“On the RGF website, one of the activities undertaken by the RGCIS for 2004-05 is listed as ‘China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC)’. What does the CAIFC do? Collect intelligence, conduct propaganda and manage perception for the Communist Party of China,” the IT cell chief he said.
