Postal dept to release special cover on migrants

Mumbai: In a unique tribute to the plight of stranded migrants, the India Post, Mumbai, will release a special post cover dedicated to them, an official said here on Tuesday. The Special FDC — which features the migrants working in Mumbai’s jewellery sector and Bollywood, as construction labourers and cabbies — will be released by five migrant workers, who represent ‘the hands that built Mumbai’. 12 booked for wedding anniversary function

Aurangabad: Twelve persons, including members of two families, were booked for celebrating a wedding anniversary on Monday night in Aurangabad in Maharashtra amid prohibitory orders for the lockdown for novel coronavirus outbreak, the police said. The celebration took place around 11pm near Sanjaynagar and Mukundwadi areas, both virus hotspots in the district. PTI

Mamata pens song for Bengal cops

Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has penned verses to say thanks to the state police. The verse has been set to tune modelled on a popular song “Jab koi baat bigad jaye…”. Sung by West Bengal information and cultural affairs minister Indranil Sen, the song accompanied by footage of various assistance activities by the police during lockdown has been posted on the Kolkata Police’s twitter handle. She also greeted nurses for “selflessly attending to the patients” in utter disregard to their personal safety. TNS
