New Delhi, December 14

Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal has got poll strategist Prashant Kishor for help with the upcoming Delhi elections.

“Welcome aboard,” Kejriwal tweeted today referring to AAP’s arrangement with Kishor’s election planning firm – IPAC (Indian Political Action Committee).

IPAC also confirmed the development of a tie up with Kejriwal and tweeted today, “After Punjab results, we acknowledged you as the toughest opponent that we have ever faced. Happy to join forces now with @ArvindKejriwal and @AamAadmiParty.”

It is learnt that ever since his party’s loss to a resurgent Congress in Punjab in 2017, Aam Aadmi Party chief Kejriwal had been trying to woo Kishor for a pan India understanding on electoral management and planning.

The engagement continued for many months until it fructified today.

Occasional meetings have been taking place between Kejriwal and Kishor but the two kept the engagement under wraps.

AAP wants to marshal all the resources it can to win the upcoming Delhi elections.

Kejriwal is the second leader Kishor, national vice-president of JDU, will help after West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.

Kishor was earlier the official political strategist for Congress and its CM candidate Capt Amarinder Singh in 2017. The Congress had won Punjab but IPAC even at that time had tweeted calling Kejriwal one of the toughest competitors they faced.

As for AAP, the upcoming Delhi poll remains a do it die battle after the party lost Punjab where, by the admission of many of its leaders, it was “over confident.”
