Jaipur, February 21

A senior member of the National Tiger Conservation Authority and BJP MP Diya Kumari on Friday urged the Central government to order a high-level probe into 26 tigers going missing from the Ranthambhore National Park.

In her letter to Union Minister of Environment and Forest Prakash Javedkar, Diya said she was disappointed to notice a report that 26 big cats were reportedly missing from the park. There is a report of 116 tigers in the park, she said.

The poachers must be identified, caught, and strict action must be taken against them so that such incidents were not repeated, she said.

She further said the attitude of the officials and authorities concerned was half-hearted and lackadaisical. The world famous national park was supposed to conserve the endangered animals and not lead to their decline in numbers, she added.
