New Delhi, March 4

Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi engaged in a Twitter spat using Hindi idioms to attack one another’s parties, amid the ongoing electioneering for five states.

Tweeting his set of idioms today, Gandhi said, “Ungaliyon par nachana–what the Centre does to the CBI and ED; bheegi billi banana–what the media does before the government; khisiyaani billi khamba noche– the way the Centre raids pro farmer people (sic).”

Javadekar retorted with his own selection of Hindi idioms, “Sau chuhe khaake billi haj ko chali (when the Congress, which imposed the Emergency, lectures everyone on media freedom); ungaliyon par gine jaa saknaa (the current electoral position of the Congress).”
