Rainfall intensity and distribution over Northwest India will reduce significantly from July 23. The IMD has said interaction between mid-level westerlies and lower level south-westerlies from the Arabian Sea over Northwest is very likely to continue for next 24 hours, it added

A reduction in rainfall intensity over Northeast is also very likely from July 24 due to southward shifting of the eastern end of the Monsoon trough.

Meanwhile, widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy falls is very likely over Central, East and Northeast India and Maharashtra during the next 3 days.

Isolated extremely heavy falls are also very likely over Assam and Meghalaya on Wednesday and Thursday.

Currently, the western part of monsoon trough is slightly south of its normal position and eastern part running close to the foothills of the Himalayas.

In addition, the convergence of moist southerly/south-westerly winds from the Bay of Bengal over Northeast and adjoining East India very likely to continue for the next 24 hours

Heavy rains and thundershowers observed at most places over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, the Gujarat region, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Rajasthan, West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura; at many places over Arunachal Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh.

Rains have also occurred at a few places over Vidarbha; and at isolated places over Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Saurashtra and Kutch, Punjab, West Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra and Andaman and the Nicobar Islands, it said.
