New Delhi, September 16
Ajay Maken, Congress general secretary in charge of Rajasthan, on Thursday said the state Cabinet and organisation rejig would have happened by now had it not been for CM Ashok Gehlot’s ill health.
Maken’s statement came amid murmurs of discontent in the Sachin Pilot camp whose patience with the party has been running thin.
Pilot, the former deputy CM of Rajasthan, had mounted a rebellion against the party and returned after the Congress leadership made promises of accommodation to him. The promises included inclusion of MLAs loyal to Pilot in the state Cabinet and their postings in corporations and Congress organisation. “The Cabinet reshuffle was just around the corner when CM Gehlot fell ill. This led to delays. Even these days the CM is clearing files from home. Our blueprint and plan for Cabinet and organisational revamp is ready,” said Maken seeking to placate dissidence in the Pilot camp, which continues to await realisation of promises the AICC had made. — TNS
