New Delhi, December 20
Soon after Zero Hour commenced in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu adjourned the House till 2 pm following protests by opposition members against Naidu’s decision to disallow a notice by an opposition member.
“All of you sit down. Please sit down. My priority is functioning of the house…decorum, discipline and decency…debate, discussion and decision…this is my priority,” Naidu told addressing the protesting MPs.
“The other day (Friday), I requested both the government and the opposition to sit together, discuss and then see to it that the House is restored and decency is restored – the minister met me,” Naidu was heard saying.
“My concern is discipline, decorum and decency…debate, discuss and decide…this is my wish. If you are not interested, I am adjourning the House till 2’o clock,” Naidu said even as there was no let-up in the noisy protest by opposition members.
Earlier, various ministers laid papers in the House.
