New Delhi, August 11

“The laws should be revoked as these have triggered widespread resentment among farmers of Punjab and other states,” the CM said, submitting a letter on the issue. He underlined the need to compensate farmers for management of paddy straw at Rs100/quintal and to address DAP shortage fears. In another letter, the CM said the Central Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, provided free legal aid to vulnerable categories.

“Farmers too are vulnerable and are at times driven to suicide due to financial problems,” he held.
