Rs48K-cr Tejas deal sealed
Bengaluru: Public sector giant Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) on Wednesday was handed over the contract documents to manufacture 83 Tejas Mark 1A fighter jets. The contract for Rs 48,000 crore was handed over by the officials of the Ministry of Defence to HAL Chairman and Managing Director R Madhavan on Wednesday. The first LCA Tejas Mark 1A will be supplied three years from contract — by February 2024. — TNS
Spice now has an extended range
Rafael Advanced Defense Systems of Israel unveiled a new variant of its “SPICE 250” air-to-surface ammunition with the addition of an integrated turbojet engine and can fire at targets 150 km away. The Spice 2000 missile was used by the IAF during the strike on terrorist camps at Balakot in Pakistan in February 2019. The Spice family includes the SPICE 250, SPICE 1000 and SPICE 2000. It can be fired from air from far-off ranges with pinpoint accuracy. It travels independent of GPS navigation.
MiG servicing in India
Crown group, which specialises in defence aerospace maintenance, on Wednesday announced it has entered into a strategic partnership with Russian aircraft corporation MiG for providing post-warranty support to the Indian Navy’s MiG-29K and MiG-29KUB fighter jets. The Delhi-based group said one of its companies Aviatech Enterprises Pvt Ltd (AEPL) has entered into a “framework agreement” with joint stock company MiG in this regard. TNS
