Sher-Gil’s painting goes for Rs 37.8 crore
New Delhi: Artist Amrita Sher-Gil’s ‘In the Ladies’ Enclosure’ became the second most expensive Indian work of art sold globally, after fetching a whopping Rs37.8 crore at Saffronart’s recent Summer Live Auction. The oil on canvas was created by Sher-Gil in 1938. PTI
NCC adopts 46 war heroes’ statues
new delhi: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) has adopted 46 statues of gallantry award winners for upkeep under a plan to mark the 75th year of Independence. Of the statues, 10 are Param Vir Chakra, six Ashoka Chakra, 11 Mahavir Chakra, four Kirti Chakra, 12 Vir Chakra and three Shaurya Chakra awardees. Kerala Governor fasts against dowry deaths
