Shivling, broken idols found at Ram Janmabhoomi site: Temple trust

A “Shivling” and other relics have been discovered during excavation work at Ram Janmabhoomi complex in preparation for construction of the proposed temple.

“Shivling having a height of 4ft and 11 inches and circumference of 42 inches, besides large number of damaged and broken idols of deities have been discovered during excavation activities at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex,” Ramjanmabhoomi Teerath Kshetra Trust general secretary Champat Rai said in a video message on Thursday.

The trust on its official twitter handle said today that other objects of archaeological importance discovered include “flowers made of stone”, “Kalash”, “Aamalak”, “Dorjamb”, and seven and six pillars of Black Stone and Red Stone, respectively.

The Trust was constituted by the Union government in line with the verdict of the Supreme Court to oversee the construction and management of the Ram Temple.

The excavation work was mounted during levelling of the Ram Janmabhoomi complex following permission from the authorities in the wake of relaxation of the lockdown.

Rai said presently only 10 workers have been engaged regarding the construction work along with three JCBs, two cranes and two tractors. “The works are on since May 11, but at a slow pace due to regulations.”
