Hyderabad, January 29
The call for a day-long Bharat ‘bandh’ (shutdown) by the Bahujan Kranti Morcha (BKM) got a lacklustre response with only Muslim-dominated areas responding to the call to anti-CAAprotest . Similar response was there in other towns in Telangana.
Muslim leaders made passionate speeches at many places, but shops and educational institutions remained closed only in the old city and other parts of Hyderabad. Schools and colleges were mostly closed.
Various trade associations were supporting the bandh. Some BKM supporters were detained when they staged a protest at the Ambedkar statue near Tank Bund. — TNS
