Soon, SC judgments in 9 vernacular languages

New Delhi: Supreme Court Vidhik Anuvaad Software (SUVAS), an advanced software assisted by artificial intelligence, has been developed to translate Supreme Court judgments in nine vernacular languages — Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Odiya, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu — and there are plans to expand it, Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told Rajya Sabha on Thursday.  He said the judgements are also being uploaded on the SC website and the high courts need to follow it. Two-headed snake found in Bengal village 

Kolkata: A rare two-headed snake was found in a village under Belda forest range in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district, a forest official said on Thursday. Inhabitants of Ekarukhi village found the snake, but did not hand it over to the forest officials. While there was speculation that the villagers were reluctant to let go of the snake due to mythological beliefs, Belda range officer Sarbani Das said the locals told her staff they had released the reptile. Maoists ask Odisha villagers not to use cellphones

Malkangiri (Odisha): Maoists have painted a message on a wall in Odisha’s Malkangiri district, threatening people against using mobile phones without their permission. The message, signed by CPI (Maoist), was seen painted on a wall in Arapadar village on Thursday and was meant for residents of Andrapalli panchayat comprising 10 villages, a police officer said. “Please do not use mobile phones. Do not make a phone call without permission. Whoever makes a call, shall be responsible for his fate,” the message in Odia said. PTI
