Mumbai, June 14
Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, 34, who starred in films “Kai Po Che!” “Shuddh Desi Romance”’, “PK”, “Chhichhore”, “Kedarnath” and a movie on cricketer MS Dhoni, committed suicide today at his apartment in Bandra, days after his former manager Disha Salian jumped off a building on June 9.
According to the Bandra police, Sushant locked himself in his bedroom in the morning. His servants knocked at the door but the actor did not respond. They forced open the door and found the actor’s body hanging from the ceiling fan. The duty officer at the Bandra police station said no suicide note was found and that they were looking at the actor’s social media accounts for a clue to his suicide.
The last social media post shared by the actor, who hailed from Patna, was dedicated to his mother, who passed away in 2002. “Blurred past evaporating from teardrops. Unending dreams carving an arc of smile. And a fleeting life, negotiating between the two. Maa,” he wrote by way of a caption.
Among those who condoled his death was PM Nareandra Modi.”A bright young actor gone too soon… Shocked by his passing away,” he tweeted. “Not fair Sushi! One week everything changed! Not fair my baby!,” Ekta Kapoor, who heads Balaji Telefilms, tweeted. She did not make it clear what had changed in the last week. (With PTI inputs)
