Telangana High Court on Monday intervened to evaluate preparations in the state during the third wave of Covid-19 and directed Telangana Government to boost the RT-PCR tests.

The state’s health department has been directed to conduct one lakh RT-PCR tests every day. The court also asked the government to provide numbers of RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Tests done each day in its medical bulletin.

Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice N Tukaramji underlined the need to be vigilant and to ensure social distancing and wearing of masks. The state’s Advocate General responded by saying that the Cabinet will take necessary action in its meeting later at night. A detailed report on the measures taken by the government has been sought on the next date.

The high court observed that the daily count of Covid-19 cases in the state had risen since the beginning of the year and the state must do everything possible to curb it.
