Telangana police busts rave party, detain 90; owner, seven organisers arrested

Telangana Police on Friday busted a rave party, and detained 90 youngsters from a farmhouse on the outskirts of the city under the Rachakonda Commissionerate.

The detained include college students and techies. They had bought tickets for the party.

The police had received information that since clubs and bars in the city were enforcing “strict” COVID norms, some people were hiring private farmhouses, and organsing parties, with alcohol and drugs. Women, who were detained at the party, said that they had purchased tickets for the event.

The owner of the farmhouse, and seven organisers, were arrested. They had invited youngsters through private messages on social media platforms.

The police also seizured sizeable quantities of drugs and alcohol from the premises.

The organisers have been booked under The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS) and Telangana Excise Act. Those detained at the party have been slapped with Sections 188 and 294 of the IPC which pertains to doing what they shouldn’t being doing, and obscenity. They were produced in court today.

Mahesh Bhagvat, Rachakonda police Commissioner said that the organisers lured the clients through social media keeping Shivaratri festival in mind, and when most police personnel are tied up with “bandobast” duty.

The party was held at a remote farmhouse at Narayanpur in Yadadri-Bhongir district to stay away from police radar. The police have confiscated 400 gram of Ganja, three blots of LSD, and few grams of unidentified drugs apart from liquor bottles.

Besides detaining people, the police have also confiscated 30 motorbikes, 15 cars, and a generator-mounted vehicle. The police said that the accused had earlier organised a similar event in Warangal district, and noticing the success, he organised another one near Hyderabad.
