UP poll on mind, BJP may just ignore Meghalaya Guv Satya Pal Malik's remark on Modi

Though the BJP leadership is “quite upset” with Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik, it appears unlikely to take any immediate action in order to avoid giving him “another handle” to “create more problems for the party” ahead of Uttar Pradesh elections, sources are claiming.

Left red-faced and squirming over Malik’s latest controversial statement against none other than their “tallest and most popular leader” Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leaders are seething and would ideally like to get him replaced.

However, with the UP elections in mind, they appear to have decided to “remain silent for now and avoid giving Malik another handle against the PM” or create more embarrassing moments for the party.

Malik, a Jat, belongs to the western UP region, where the BJP is trying hard to make amends with the politically important community following the unrest over the three farm laws.

The sources also say that removing Malik will not serve any purpose. He has some more months left as the Governor and it is best to “ignore him and not give him any attention because that is what he appears to be aiming for”, according to a BJP leader.

The leadership seems to have adopted a similar strategy with its Pilibhit MP Varun Gandhi, who too has been hitting out at the BJP with posts on social media.
