Barabanki (UP): The relatives of a 20-year-old woman beat her up, shaved her head and forced her to walk through the streets for marrying a man from another religion in a village here, the police said on Tuesday. A case has been registered against eight persons at Fatehpur Kotwal police station and three have been arrested. PTI

Delhi’s monsoon wait to stretch on

New Delhi: The further progress of the monsoon into Delhi and parts of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab is “unlikely” during the next seven days, the India Meteorological Department said on Tuesday. “Southwest monsoon has so far covered most parts of the country except parts of Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana and Punjab,” the IMD said. Carnatic musician Ponnammal dies

Thiruvananthapuram: Legendary Carnatic musician and Padmashree awardee Parassala B Ponnammal, who enthralled classical music lovers for eight decades through her incredible concerts, passed away at her home in Valiyasala here on Tuesday, family sources said. She was 96 and was suffering from age-related ailments for some time, they said. PTI
