New Delhi: Chinese mobile phone company Vivo is likely to pull out as the Indian Premier League’s title sponsor for this year and is in talks with the BCCI for an “amicable separation” amid rising Sino-India diplomatic tensions. The one-year pullout could be treated as a moratorium period, and if the relations improve, the BCCI may look at inking a fresh three-year deal with the company from 2021 to 2023 on revised terms. The IPL will be held in the UAE from September 19 to November 10 this year. PTI

New Education Policy to help regain old glory: Nishank

Solan: Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on Tuesday said the new Education Policy would help India regain its old glory of ‘Vishwa Guru’ and ensure that students get quality education. It would check the exodus of students to other countries for attaining higher education. He said IIMs and IITs were among the best institutions of the world. Pak court appoints three lawyers in Jadhav case

Islamabad: A top Pakistani court has named three senior lawyers as amici curiae in the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav as it ordered the Pakistan Government to give “another chance” to India to appoint a counsel for the death-row prisoner. Jadhav, the 50-year-old retired Indian Navy officer, was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of espionage and terrorism in April 2017. PTI
