Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said the party wanted only fearless people and those who were afraid of facing the reality and the BJP were “free to leave”. Rahul was addressing a social media department outreach today.

Mentioning the exit of former Congressman Jyotiraditya Scindia to the BJP, Gandhi said, “People who are scared are free to leave the Congress and the fearless ones outside the Congress are our own people and should be brought in. Those who are afraid are RSS people. They can leave, enjoy themselves. We don’t need them. We need fearless people. This is our ideology.”

The former Congress chief also said Scindia left for the BJP to “save his official house”. Rahul’s remarks came in response to a specific query from a volunteer about cases being slapped on those who were opposed to the ruling party and government.

Rahul alluded that Scindia, now civil aviation minister in the PM Narendra Modi-led government, left because he was scared of facing the reality and wanted to keep his official house. “My message to everyone here is don’t be scared. Be courageous. Stand up and fight and face the reality,” he said at a virtual meeting of 3,500 odd social media volunteers. —TNS
