Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Friday announced that places of worship in the state would be allowed to open from June 1. A maximum 10 devotees would be allowed at a time. No religious assembly would be permitted. “If large number of passengers can be packed in rail coaches, then there was no harm in throwing open the doors of religious places,” she remarked.
The Chief Minister also announced that all offices in the state – private as well as government – would open from June 8. She made no announcement on malls, restaurants or the Metro service. She, however, said that city buses would be allowed to carry passengers as per the capacity.
