New Delhi, June 13
The Delhi Government today issued orders mandating government hospital staffers to wear uniform or face action.
In a letter issued to medical directors and superintendents of all state hospitals, Amit Singla, Health Secretary, Delhi, said “All staff members at various health facilities under the Delhi Government will wear the designated uniform while performing their duties. Action will be taken against those found disobeying the orders. The medical director, medical superintendent and the head of department of the health facility concerned will be responsible for ensuring compliance of these orders.”
Enquiries reveal that medical staffers at Delhi Government hospitals, including the contractual staff, are given aprons, uniform allowance and washing allowance.
However, the government has observed that the medical staffers are sometimes without the mandatory uniform for which they draw allowances in the salary.
Burari Hospital Medical Director Ashish Goyal said many staffers might not wear uniform due to extreme heat, though mostly employees at state government facilities wore the designated uniform. Terming orders as routine, Goyal said staffers in uniform added to hospital efficiency and functioning.
