PM Narendra Modi today assured Governors that the government was committed to ensuring adequate vaccine supplies to fightCovid-19. In a virtual review meeting this evening, the PM urged governors and LGs to turn the fight against Covid into a “janbhagidari” and harness the strength of social organisations and NGOs for micro-containment efforts and procurement of medical supplies, including ambulances, oxygen and ventilators in hospitals. Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, who also attended the meeting, urged the governors to act as consensus builders in this critical time and called upon everyone to set aside political differences to defeat the pandemic.

The PM said: “The government is committed to ensuring adequate availability of vaccines. India has become the fastest nation to reach the landmark of 10 crore vaccinations.” He said during the last four days of Tika Utsav, the vaccination drive was expanded and new vaccination centres came up. — TNS
