Home Minister takes a dig at Owaisi
- Union Home Minister Amit Shah said it was because of Sardar Patel that Telangana, Marathwada, and Hyderabad became part of India.
- There were some people who ran a campaign to merge these with Pakistan. “Asaduddin Owaisi should respond as to who talked of the merger.”
Union Minister of State for Home Kishan Reddy, who is a BJP MP from the twin city of Secunderabad, has been campaigning in the city for a month now. Addressing the media, Shah said: “The new farm laws are meant for the welfare of farmers. I have never said the farmers’ protest is political and would never say (that it is political). We will sort out things through talks.”
The BJP leader, who held a roadshow and visited Bhagyalakshmi temple abutting Charminar, slammed both Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) for pursuing “family politics”.
He said he was confident that the BJP would get a majority among 150 divisions that go to polls on December 1.
The GHMC elections have become highly polarised with the BJP and the AIMIM playing the religion card and raising the issue of Pakistanis and Rohingya settled in the city.
During a roadshow, the Home Minister said people were fed up with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) “misrule” and wanted good governance, and they had faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Home Minister said, “We want to liberate Hyderabad from the ‘Nawab Nizam’ culture and develop it as a modern city.”
The BJP leader also slammed the TRS government for its handling of recent floods in Hyderabad. He alleged that the Chief Minister did not visit any flood-affected area. He also denied the TRS allegations that the Centre failed to provide any funds to Hyderabad. “Since the KCR doesn’t come to the Secretariat, he doesn’t know the figures,” he quipped. — Agencies
