New Delhi, September 24
The UPSC has permitted unmarried women to apply for the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy examinations, said officials.
The move follows a Supreme Court directive on the issue last month.
In a statement, the UPSC said in compliance with the apex court’s interim direction, it had decided to open the application on upsconline.nic.in for the exam to enable “unmarried women candidates only”, who were otherwise eligible in terms of nationality, age and educational qualification.
The agency said the physical standards and number of vacancies for women candidates would be notified at later stage when it receives a recommendation from the Ministry of Defence. — TNS
