The New Delhi YMCA today launched its unique Christmas festivities hosting a get-together for senior citizens with over 100 of them from various old age homes in the capital organising a lunch and a musical show.

Renu Sharma, a cancer survivor who raises funds for medicines by singing in Connaught Place, was the star performer for the show, organising committee chairman Norris Pritam said, adding that Renu is alone and stays at night shelter close to the YMCA area.

Jovial Vaghela, President, YMCA, New Delhi, said, “The meaning of Christmas is giving. What can be better than sharing it with senior citizens.”

Senior citizens from all religions and faiths took part in the inter-faith programme. The New Delhi YMCA presented blankets and cakes to all guests.

“For us it was a very special day in our lives,” said Roslyn Silvano, senior citizen. “We wait for this day the whole year,” she added.

For 72-year-old Ernest Joseph, “It was a day of thanksgiving to the Lord for giving us opportunity for this magnificent programme.”

Senior citizens from Sahara Home for Senior Citizens, Prem Dham, Sathi Old Age Home, Nirmal Chaya, Old Age Home, Indirapuram, The Great Govern Home and Delhi Christian Friend in Need attended the function.
