LIC records significant hike in market share

Anoop Kumar, Zonal Manager, North Zone, LIC of India, recently held a press conference and said the company has registered a significant increase in market share in the current financial year. LIC's market share during November 2019 was 84.82% in terms of number of policies and 71.59% in first-year premium income. It has registered a growth of 138% in number of policies sold against the industry growth of 102% and private players' growth at 9%.

Amit Shah lays stone of Bharat Vandana Park

Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently laid the foundation stone of Bharat Vandana Park at Sector 20, Dwarka, New Delhi. The world-class theme park, valuing approximately Rs 524 crore, is being developed by DDA and NBCC. BHEL commissions renovated unit of Baira Siul Hydro Project

BHEL has successfully renovated and modernised one unit of the 3x60 MW Baira Siul Hydro Power in Himachal Pradesh. Baira Siul is the first hydro station of NHPC Ltd to have been taken up for comprehensive renovation and modernisation (R&M). Significantly, BHEL won the order for R&M of three units of the Baira Siul Hydro Power Station located in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, amid stiff competitive bidding.

Royal Society recognition for Sastra-Ramanujan Award

The Sastra-Ramanujan Award has earned the recognition of the Royal Society at England, which in its December 2019 special issue of 'The Philosophical Transactions' to commemorate the centenary of Ramanujan's election as FRS published a paper titled 'Ramanujan's Legacy: The work of Sastra Prize winners'. "This confirms the prestige of the prize as a journal with a hallowed tradition that published Isaac Newton's early papers has chosen to publish about the Sastra-Ramanujan Award winners," said Prof Krishnaswami Alladi, Department Chair of Mathematics at University of Florida.

Chandigarh-based startup, Cinkal Tech Solutions Pvt. Ltd. has launched a mobile app called Cinkal. It was launched by MP Kirron Kher. HDFC Bank largest lender to MSMEs in Punjab
