Bathinda, January 9

In the wake of prevailing cold wave conditions in the region, the OPD registration timings have been extended by one hour at AIIMS, Bathinda. As per the revised schedule, patients will be able to register themselves from 8.30 am till 12 pm on a daily basis till February 29.

Earlier, the registrations started at 8.30 am and closed at 11 am. Owing to severe cold conditions, people coming from far-off villages in the Malwa region were finding it difficult to reach here during morning hours to get their registration done for the OPD.

Union Cabinet Minister of Food Processing and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal had taken up the matter with the AIIMS authorities to extend the timings of OPD registrations. Taking note of the same, the latter have extended the timings of registration now. The new timings will be effective from January 8 onwards.

Harsimrat took to her FB page to express her gratitude to the AIIMS authorities for “heeding my request to change the OPD registration timings in winter which I made after taking public feedback. Now, the registration window will remain open from 8.30 am to noon till February 29,” stated her post.

Notably, despite the bone-chilling cold prevailing in the region, many patients have to turn up to avail OPD services at AIIMS. But many people from far-off villages and other districts in the region had raised concern over the registration timings of OPD. It is pertinent to mention here that on an average more than 400 patients get themselves registered to avail of the OPD services at AIIMS these days.

Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan and Union Food and Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal had inaugurated the OPD services at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bathinda on December 23. At this initial phase, doctors from 12 specialty units have been providing medical services in the outpatient department (OPD).
