Medal contenders Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty notched up a dominating straight-game win against Indonesian duo of Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Fajar Alfian to top Group C in men’s doubles badminton competition. The third-seeded Indian duo won 21-13 21-13. Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto suffered their third straight loss in the women’s doubles competition.
Panghal’s campaign ends with loss
Former world No. 1 boxer Amit Panghal bowed out of the Paris Olympics with a 1-4 loss to Zambia’s Patrick Chinyemba in the 51kg pre-quarterfinal bout. The Indian boxer had got an opening round bye.
