Fourteen faculty members of Punjabi University, Patiala, have been named in the list of top 2 per cent scientists of the world. In a communique shared by the director publication of the university, Sarabjit Singh, the lists of scientists of the world were released by the Stanford University recently.

The scientists have been classified into 22 fields and 174 sub-fields, according to the standard science-metrix classification. The selection is based on the top 1 lakh scientists by c-score (with and without self-citations) or a percentile rank of 2 per cent or above in the sub-field.

As many as 14 faculty members of the university have been named, including Dr Ram Sarup Singh (Bio-Technology Department), Dr Ashok Kumar Tiwary (pharmaceutical and drug research), Dr Ashok Kumar Malik (chemistry), Dr Parveen Lata (mathematics), Dr Amteshwar Jaggi (pharmaceutical and drug research), Dr Chandan Singh (Department of Computer Science Engineering), Dr Om Silakari (pharmaceutical and drug research), Dr Narinder Singh (mathematics), Dr Ramandeep Kaur (chemistry), Dr Nirmal Singh, Dr Rajesh Goel, Dr Yogita Bansal and Dr Gurpreet Kaur (all from pharmaceutical and drug research) and Dr A Kumar (physics).
