2 new micro-containment zones come up in Patiala

Patiala, July 7

After a surge in cases, the Patiala Health Department today declared two new areas in the city as a micro-containment zone.

The areas are Anand Nagar (old extension) and Topkhana Mor. Seven Covid cases have been reported from Anand Nagar while nine cases from Topkhana Mor. With this, all vehicular movement stands restricted.

Civil Surgeon Dr Harish Malhotra said two areas were declared micro-containment zones after an increase in the number of Covid cases. He said 30 new Covid cases were reported today, taking the district tally to 436.

Meanwhile, Columbia Asia, a private hospital, was partially sealed by the Health Department after two staff nurses tested positive for Covid. Dr Sumeet Singh, District Epidemiologist, said only the affected area of the hospital had been sealed. — TNS
