Maximum price for collecting one sample has been caped at Rs1,000, which will be processed at VRDL lab at the Government Rajindra Hospital.

District Epidemiologist Dr Sumeet Singh said the private hospitals need to arrange required logistics, collect, pack and send samples to the nearest government health facility as per protocol. “The samples sent by empanelled private hospitals/clinics will be tested for free at the government lab,” he said.

The District Epidemiologist said, “The private hospitals will have a separate isolated area for collecting samples of suspected Covid-19 patients. The person taking samples will wear protective gear.”

He said, “We have imparted training to the staff of these hospitals. We will regularly inspect these hospitals.”

Patiala Civil Surgeon Dr Harish Malhotra urged farmers, factory owners and hoteliers to inform about returnee migrants.

He said, “As a responsible citizen, people should inform about all interstate travellers, including migrant workers so that we can test them.”

The Health Department claimed that there are no signs of community spread in the district.
