The police claim to have cracked an alleged kidnapping case of an eight-year old boy within three hours after he was taken away by two bike-borne youths. The police have registered a case against unknown persons at the Ganda Kherhi police station and are conducting raids to nab the suspects on the basis of CCTV footage of the incident.

Rs 3 lakh ransom paid?

Sources said a ransom call for Rs 3 lakh was made, but no one confirmed the development. “The amount was paid and the kidnappers later left the child, who was recovered from a tubewell room of nearby farms,” they said.

According to the police, Khadauli resident Arshdeep Singh was on the way to school when unknown bike-borne youths, who had their faces covered, picked him up. The footage of the incident later went viral. According to villagers, the victim was on the way to his school with his brother on their bicycle when the two suspects accosted them and took away Arshdeep. His brother reported the matter to his parents, who informed the police.

Sources said a ransom call for Rs 3 lakh was made, but no one confirmed the development. “The amount was paid and the kidnappers later left the child, who was recovered from a tubewell room of nearby farms,” they said.

However, the police and relatives of the victim were tightlipped about the incident. The police claimed that within hours of receiving the kidnapping complaint, they swung into action and the child was recovered.

“We have rounded up some suspects,” said SP (Investigation) Mehtab Singh Gill. “We have no information about any ransom being paid. Further probe is on,” he said.
