87 spools of banned kite string seized in Patiala
A team from Nagar Panchayat Devigarh conducted a surprise inspection at the town’s markets to crack down on the sale of banned Chinese, nylon and synthetic kite strings. During the inspection, 87 spools of the prohibited string were seized.
Executive Officer of Nagar Panchayat Rakesh Arora stated that the checking was carried out under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Dr Preeti Yadav.
Alongside the seizure, shopkeepers and the general public were made aware of the dangers and legal consequences of using the banned strings.
Arora revealed that 36 reels of prohibited China string were confiscated from JM Traders on the Patiala-Pehowa Road, while Amandeep Traders had 39 rolls, and Lekhraj General Store had 12 rolls of the banned material.
The seized stock has been handed over to the police for further action. He further stated that the District Magistrate has imposed a ban under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
