Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday presided over a program at Punjabi University, Patiala, to mark the birth anniversary of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar.

Highlighting the revival of Punjabi University, Mann said, “Today, the government is disbursing Rs 30 crore every month to stabilise the institution.”

He also announced the establishment of a new ‘Maker’s Space’ laboratory at the university to boost research and development.

Mann praised the university’s contribution to the government’s anti-drug initiative. The CM asserted to continue “bulldozer action” against drug peddlers.

“Their properties are soaked in the blood of innocent people, and we will not spare them,” he said.

Mann further mentioned the strong support from village sarpanches, particularly in the Malwa region, for the ongoing crackdown.

Urging students to take part in politics, he said, “I encourage youth to participate in politics—not just to fight elections, but to understand the decisions and its impact.” Mann condemned efforts by certain anti-social elements to divide society and warned of strict action against anyone attempting to create social divide.

“The defacement of BR Ambedkar’s statue is deeply regrettable, and we will not tolerate such acts,” he asserted.

Taking a swipe at Leader of Opposition and senior Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa, Mann criticised him for his claim that 50 grenades had entered Punjab, of which 18 had been used.

Mann said, “When asked to disclose where the remaining bombs are, he is hiring a lawyer. This is nothing but politics of fear.”

The CM urged for an end to the spread of fear in Punjab.

“We have seen enough bloodshed, bombs and AK-47. Now, let Punjab walk on the path of prosperity,” he concluded.
